1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how ZMatrix AI Companion for iPhone handles information. It applies to the app, its widgets, Control Center controls and Shortcuts. The app is published by Halonex Labs Private Limited ("Halonex", "we").
In short
Your conversations stay on your iPhone. ZMatrix AI Companion runs AI models on your iPhone itself. It has no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We do not receive your chats, your prompts, the models you use or anything about how you use the app. The app connects to the internet only when you look for or download a model, and, if you choose to pair a Mac, to reach that Mac.
2. What stays on your iPhone
Everything the app uses is kept in its own storage on your iPhone:
- Models you download. Kept on your iPhone and left out of iCloud and computer backups, so they are downloaded again after a restore. Delete them in Models ▸ On This iPhone or Settings ▸ Storage.
- Chats with a model on your iPhone. Saved on your iPhone only and never sent anywhere, not to us and not to a paired Mac. Like your other app data, they are part of your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer) if you use them.
- Your settings and statistics. Chat Defaults, pins, drafts and the counts shown in Activity and Usage (messages, tokens and speed) are stored on your iPhone only.
- Widgets and controls. Your widgets read a short summary that only the app's own widgets can open: the titles of recent chats, model names, today's counts and, if you paired a Mac, its name and state.
- Siri and Shortcuts. Shortcuts and Control Center controls open the app at the right place. They run on your iPhone and send nothing to us.
The app keeps no logs of your prompts or the model's replies.
3. When the app uses the internet
The app makes network connections only for these purposes:
| What you do | Who the app contacts | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Browse, search or download models (Get Models, Recommended, Download, Download Again) | Hugging Face (huggingface.co and its download servers) |
The words you search for, the names of the models looked up and the files downloaded, and your network (IP) address, which any website sees. No account or access token is ever sent. |
| Pair and use a Mac with ZMatrix Link (optional) | Your Mac, Apple iCloud and Google's public STUN servers | See ZMatrix Link below |
| Report a problem (Settings ▸ Help) | Your Mail app | An email you write and choose to send, with the app's version in the subject |
What Hugging Face does with these requests is governed by Hugging Face's privacy policy. Once a model is downloaded, chatting with it needs no network at all and works in Airplane Mode.
4. ZMatrix Link (optional)
ZMatrix Link lets you chat with the models on your own Mac running ZMatrix Model Studio. It is off until you pair a Mac, and you can unpair at any time.
- Pairing. You scan a code shown by your Mac with the iPhone's camera. The camera is used only for this; nothing it sees is stored or sent.
- End-to-end encryption. Your iPhone and your Mac talk to each other directly, encrypted with keys that only the two devices hold. The keys are kept in your iPhone's Keychain.
- What the two devices exchange. Your chats with the Mac's models, the list of models on the Mac and, while you look at it, the Mac's System Monitor readings (such as memory, CPU, GPU and temperature). Chats with your Mac are kept in sync on both devices. Chats with a model on your iPhone are never sent to the Mac.
- Finding your Mac on another network. The devices leave small encrypted notes for each other in iCloud (Apple's CloudKit), using the iCloud sign-in already on your devices. Apple can see which iCloud account wrote each note, from which network address and when, but cannot read it. The devices may also ask Google's public STUN servers (
stun.l.google.com) for their own public network address; Google sees that request and the address it comes from. - Local network. On the same Wi-Fi the iPhone reaches your Mac directly. iOS asks for your permission to use the local network the first time.
There is no server of ours in between, and Halonex never sees anything that passes over the link.
5. Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: only to scan your Mac's pairing code.
- Local network: only to reach your Mac on the same network.
- Notifications: to tell you when a model has finished downloading. Your iPhone shows the notification itself; no notification server is involved.
You can change any of these in the iPhone's Settings app at any time. The app does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, microphone or health data.
6. Crash reports
The app does not send crash reports to us itself. If you turned on "Share With App Developers" in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash reports for this app with us under Apple's own terms. They contain technical details about the crash, not your chats. You can turn this off there at any time.
7. What we collect
Nothing. Halonex does not collect, store, sell or share personal data from the app. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected". If you email us, we receive what you choose to write and use it only to answer you.
8. Deleting your data
Because your data never reaches us, you control all of it on your iPhone:
- Settings ▸ Forget Everything removes your chats, statistics and settings, and can delete your models too.
- Deleting a chat or a model removes it from your iPhone.
- Unpairing a Mac removes its keys from your iPhone.
- Deleting the app removes everything it kept.
Data you shared with Hugging Face is handled under its policy.
9. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age set by the law where you live) and collects no personal data from anyone.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in substance, we will update this page and the app will show the new version before you continue.
